Duration

Internships run for four, eight or twelve weeks, full time or part time, remote or in person depending on the domain. Field-based internships require in-person availability for at least part of the term.

Start dates are grouped into cohorts so that induction, supervision and review happen properly rather than ad hoc.

Certificate

Every intern who completes the term and submits the final deliverable receives a dated certificate stating the domain, duration and the work produced.

Interns are named on any published material they contributed to. Outstanding interns are invited to continue as volunteers or to apply for fellowship tracks.

What the term actually looks like

You are assigned a supervisor and a single substantive deliverable — a literature review, a module draft, a district data set, a communications asset — sized to the length of your term. You meet your supervisor weekly. At the end you present the work and receive written feedback you can use.

Internships are unpaid at present. Approved travel and material costs for field work are reimbursed. We state this plainly rather than at the end of the process, so you can decide before investing time in an application.

Interns placed in child-facing field work must complete child protection training and screening before any contact with children.
